This female statue menhir is missing its upper section. Its surfaces are heavily worn and partially damaged by the deterioration of the trachyte stone. On the front, hemispherical cup-shaped breasts are clearly visible, while no other markings can easily be identified. The statue was discovered in a dry-stone wall on the Loddùo plateau, not far from the nuraghe of the same name, where additional fragments of statue-menhirs were also identified among the stones. The Mother Goddess of Loddùo is unique within Sardinian prehistoric sculpture and opens an important chapter in understanding the spirituality of ancient Sardinian peoples.
